Who does not crave for free food? Exciting, right? MacDonald’s Canada is introducing a different way to score the iconic double decker burger for free on the occasion of Macdonald’s 50^th birthday.

The ‘MacCoins’ introduced by MacDonald’s Canada will be made available from coast to coast for the people of Canada , starting August 2 , 50000 MacCoins can be used to repurchase One  free Big Mac.

The mac coin is made up of brass and will be available @MacDonald’s Canada for a contest along with the Contest on local radio stations until the 8^th of August.

Henry Nienhuis, President of the Royal Canadian Numismatic association told that the designs of the MacCoin represent the international network that make up the McDonalds global system. The big mac is worthy and giving it an official coin expands its prestige and reminds its worth. “The Big Mac is a cultural icon and what better way to celebrate its continuing status than to issue a commemorative coin. The many designs of the Big Mac Coin reflect the incredible international network that comprises the McDonald’s global system. We all know what the Big Mac is worth to us, but giving it its own limited mintage official celebratory coin, expands that worth giving us a collectible keepsake as well.”

The coin is globally accepted in 57 countries and is available in five designs – the burger is universal, it’s everywhere even the economist can use it to measure the purchasing power. Macdonald’s is offering the new food currency in honour of the big mac turning 50 this year “five designs celebrating the five decades of the Big Mac” and it “will have a globally accepted value drawing inspiration from the Big Mac Index – the burger is so ubiquitous that The Economist even uses it to measure global purchasing power.”

One of the prestigious item of MacDonald’s , the big mac is a much loved food of the menu alongside the ambiance  that the guest experiences , so it deserves the recognition and celebration that the coin induces. “The limited-edition Mac Coin symbolizes the modern McDonald’s journey,” says Jeff McLean, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada. “Creating innovative guest experiences alongside much-loved menu classics is key. As one of the most well-known and loved food items, the Big Mac deserves the global-recognition and celebration that the coin evokes.”
