It seems the weather
has Upped its game and this time Calgary is under it’s radar, Snow has been
increasing rapidly and yesterdays warning is still active as more snow is to
follow.
Over 104 centimeters officially recorded at Environment
Canada’s weather office since Dec. 20, 2017.
Another explosion of
winter has entered southern Alberta, warning of freezing rain and snowfall for
areas along the U.S border, right through to north of Red Deer.
This comes on the heels of over 60 centimeters of snow from
Feb. 1, 2018 to March 3, 2018. To make matters worse for Calgarians, on the
same date last year it was 14.5 C.
For Calgary March is the snowiest month of the year, with
just under 23 centimeters of snow, and April is the second snowiest month with
just under 19 centimeters.
In 2018, there was nearly triple the average monthly snowfall
in February, and March kicked off with the snowiest start on record.
Weather this year has broken last 46 years record and it’s
still not done. Try to stay warm and safe this weekend as well.
