After America, Canada is also offering an amusement or what I should call; a magic-like experience near Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Yes, I am talking about the very own Disneyland here in Canada which is expected to start its construction by 2022. But before anything else, I am pretty sure the following 8 things you don’t know about Canada and Disney relation. You should check them out!
After the successful establishment of the Disneyland in Anaheim, California, Walt Disney started viewing some other places for a second location of the Disneyland. He didn’t want a usual place that could be chaotic with its magical world; rather he wanted a bigger place to the East side for the development of Disneyland.
In 1963, Walt Disney landed on North America searching for the right place for Disney World and his very first instinct was Niagara Falls, Ontario. During that process, Walt Disney was offered with wines and foods of the Seagram Liquor Company. Soon the idea was denied by the fact that Niagara Falls is cold area and winter could be raging there.

It seems that not only Americans love to enjoy at the Disney resorts, but the Disneyland and Disney World are like the all-the-time travel destination for Canadians too. In the recent times, Anaheim (DL) was the 17th most visited international destination for Canadians and Orlando (WDW) the 5th most.
The famous duo of Canadian Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas aka Bob and Doug McKenzie performed the voices of two mischievous moose Rutt and Tuke respectively that was featured in a fim ‘Brothher Bear’.
In 2010, the Disney-Pixar felt lucky enough by the Canadian tax breaks that it established a 20,000 square foot animation studio in downtown Vancouver. From the Pixar Canada studio, many wonderful short films and commercial were produced like Mater’s Tall Tales, Small Fry, Partysaurus Res, and Tales From Radiator Springs. After passing three years, the studio got closed cutting out 100 animators and staff.
In October, 1982, EPCOT got featured by the Walt Disney World as the second theme park. The park is divided into two sections, ‘Future World’ and ‘World Showcase’ where many countries are highlighted around a lake in ten-acre plots.
When you enter the World Showcase area from the front side of the park, the first thing that comes to the notice is the Canada pavilion located on the right-hand side. This area is the most visited place in the entire park. The employees (cast members) there are native to Canada and dress like Canadian lumberjacks as everyone in Canada wears red plaid.

Niagara Falls in scale version is present near the Le Cellier Restaurant and it is known to be the best in WDW and to get a reservation there is not an easy task. EPCOT’s Canada is the only place of Disney World where you can have a bowl full of Poutine! Exciting? Hah!
The Canadian pavilion highlights is somewhat a 360-degree Circle-vision film, O’ Canada, featuring the country from Newfoundland to British Columbia. All the walls of theatre are covered with the movie screens, giving a lifetime experience of Canada to the visitors.
The current 2007 version is hosted by comedian Martin Short. Make sure you bring some tissues as the 70s style version of O’ Canada would make you cry.
Funny to hear that EPCOT Canada pavilion wasn’t likely to build. Before construction, it was asked to the Canadian government about the project funding for the design elements of the area. But the government rejected the proposal because of the stereotypical nature of the pavilion and lumberjack uniforms. Fortunately, Disney constructed it anyway.
In 2012, Vancouver became the new Northwest hub for Disney Cruise Line as it was shifted from Seattle. You can swim forward to reach Alaska, Hawaii, and San Diego from Vancouver (which is only an hour and a half drive to Disneyland). Also, there are various packages offered by Disney Cruise Line for Canadian residents with 20% discount on some packages.
In 2007, Walt Disney Company got New Horizon Interactive, a software company in Kelowna, BC that offers multiplayer online games. Secondary to it is Disney Canada, Inc, the company in collaboration with Disney maintains the ‘Club Penguin’ which somewhat links the Farmville and the Sims. There are many widespread rumors about a television series based on the game, so check it out then!
I am sure you have never been to there. It’s A Small World is like a huge animated attraction containing many dolls and sets that are the signs of the world and all of them singing a catchy song. By entering, the first doll that you come across is red, the loyal Canadian Mountie, enjoy its waving as you pass by near the totem pole.
